My name is John Jones and I am currently the Senior Pastor of the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Ashtabula, Ohio. I have been married to Judy, my wonderful wife since 1982. We have four grown children and at the time of this writing (May of 2020), two grandchildren. My wife and I have been serving the Lord together for over thirty-seven years now in Georgia, Tennessee, West Virginia and, for over thirty years, in Ashtabula, Ohio. I was licensed to preach in 1983 in Louisville, Kentucky, received my Bach. Of Religious Ed. Degree (pastoral major), from Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga in 1984, and ordained to the ministry in 1985, also in Louisville, Kentucky. I have been serving in full-time ministry positions for over thirty-five years. Outside of the work of the pastorate, both my wife and I are privileged to have speaking and writing ministries and opportunities, and we are often called upon and engage regularly in a personal counseling ministry. I am “on-call” for spiritual help at our local hospital when needed and have worked with the local hospice organization.
Judy was raised in a Godly home, and is the daughter of Jim and Jean Jones, who are part-time missionaries to Cuba. Judy was saved at age four and grew up attending the Cleveland Baptist Church. She went on to college at Tennessee Temple University-majoring in music. While there, she met her husband, John Jones, who currently pastors Lighthouse Baptist Church.
Mrs. Jones has been a devoted pastor's wife for over 37 years and was a home-schooling mother for 17 years. She has four grown children and three wonderful daughters-in-law-Angela, Dana, and Vivian,- and also has Steven for a son-in-law. Too, she is now the joyful grandmother of two wonderful grandchildren, Ivy and Grant.
Judy has been a successful piano and voice teacher for over 35 years now with many award-winning students who have gone on to use their talents around the world. She is active in parenting, soul-winning, ladies Bible studies, directs a 40-voice choir and special music ministries, and more, and is also a very popular ladies’ meeting speaker both inside and outside of her own church. Not the typical speaker in Christian circles, she knows that the only message she has to share is what God has taught (or is currently teaching) her through the up’s and down’s of life! In recent years Judy has taught many different age groups, has also been a part of the Boot the Mule Children's ministries, proofreading, singing, arranging songs and more for both the books and children’s CDs. She is a multi-talented lady who serves the Lord diligently.
As an active pastor's wife, she specifically encourages all ladies to be involved in ministry. She is a fine example of a Christian woman who strives to help women to truly love Christ and to grow spiritually, and she is a true woman of excellence.
It may be noteworthy to mention too (it is to us) that Mrs. Jones is very health conscious. She was an award-winning leader for Weight Watchers Inc. for over 7 years after losing 80 pounds in 2004 and now heads up a group she’s started called Fit for Him! Judy is involved in aerobic training and running. In 2010 Judy completed her first full marathon - 26.2 miles (in Akron, OH)!! Judy knows only one way of doing things-all in!
